September 2 · Reflection
We spend a lot of life somewhere else, replaying yesterday or rehearsing tomorrow. Marcus Aurelius, who ruled an empire and still felt the pull of distraction, reminded himself again and again to come back to the present. The past is finished and the future hasn't arrived. The only place you can act with kindness, do good work, or take a real breath is now. This isn't about cramming the day with productivity. It's about being here for it. The cup of coffee, the walk, the conversation. Today, when your mind drifts ahead or behind, return softly to the thing in front of you.
