September 1 · Reflection
Some mornings the day feels like it belongs to everyone but you. The traffic, the inbox, another person's mood. Epictetus offered a quiet sorting rule: a few things answer to you, most do not. Your effort, your attention, the way you respond, these are yours. The weather and other people's choices are not. This is not giving up. It is putting your strength where it can actually do something. When you stop pouring yourself into what you cannot move, you find you have more left for what you can. Today, notice one worry that isn't yours to carry, and gently set it down.
