I welcome what comes, and meet it with the part of me that's steady.

Amor fati means loving your fate, but that phrase can sound too neat for a hard day. It doesn't mean pretending you like pain. It means stopping the second fight, the one where you argue with reality on top of dealing with it. The thing has happened. Now what kind of person do you want to be while you face it? Marcus wrote that the obstacle in the road becomes the road. Whatever lands on you today carries a chance to practice patience, honesty, or courage. You don't have to be glad it came. You only have to meet it as yourself.

Inspired by the old idea of amor fati. Written by Ugo Charles.
