April 1 · Reflection
Epictetus opens his handbook with a simple sorting: some things are up to us, and some are not. Your effort, your honesty, your next small choice belong to you. The weather, other people's moods, the final outcome do not. This isn't giving up; it's aiming your energy where it can actually land. When you stop wrestling with what was never yours to hold, you have so much more left for what is. Today, notice the difference. The deadline you can prepare for, but not the boss's reaction. The conversation you can soften, but not how it's received. Do your part well, then loosen your grip on the rest.
