Epictetus taught that we can't control the storm, only how we stand in it. He compared life to a voyage—you don't command the sea, but you can keep your wits and do your part well. When pressure rises today, the events themselves may be out of your hands, but your bearing isn't. You can soften your shoulders, slow your breath, and meet the moment without adding panic to it. This steadiness isn't coldness; it's a kind of inner shelter you build through practice. Storms pass. The question the Stoics cared about was who you were while one was happening. You can be the calm part of a chaotic morning.
