I build my peace from how I act, not what I get.

For the Stoics, the only true good is your own character, the virtue you actually live. Everything else, money, health, reputation, is borrowed and can be taken back. That sounds harsh until you sit with it. It means your worth doesn't rise and fall with your bank balance or other people's approval. The one thing fully in your keeping is how you choose to act: with honesty, courage, fairness, patience. Build your sense of a good day on that, and you've built it on solid ground. The external stuff can come and go, and you'll still be standing on something real.

Inspired by the old idea of virtue as the only good. Written by Ugo Charles.
