I notice what I already have before reaching for more.

Seneca warned that the person who wants more is poor no matter how much they own. Wanting can become a habit that never lets you arrive. Gratitude isn't pretending you have everything, it's pausing to see what's genuinely here. The roof, the cup of coffee, the person who texted back, the body that carried you through the morning. None of this is guaranteed, which is exactly what makes it worth noticing. When you let yourself feel that you already have enough for today, the grasping loosens a little. You can still pursue things. You just do it from a fuller place instead of an anxious one.

Inspired by the old idea of wealth is having enough. Written by Ugo Charles.
