I am choosing to be a good person more than a comfortable one.

For the Stoics, only one thing was truly good: your own character, the way you act, the kind of person you're becoming. Money, status, comfort, even health, these can be useful, but they can also be taken away, and they don't make you good. What does is how you treat people, whether you keep your word, whether you do the right thing when it's hard. That's the part no one can steal. You won't get it perfect. But each time you choose honesty over ease, or patience over a sharp word, you're building the one thing that's actually yours to keep.

Inspired by the old idea of virtue as the only good. Written by Ugo Charles.
