Marcus wrote that the mind adapts and turns to its own purposes the obstacle in its way, what blocks the path can become the path. This isn't pretending problems are gifts. It's noticing that the hard thing in front of you is also where your patience, courage, and creativity actually get built. A blocked plan can teach you something the smooth version never would. You don't have to be glad the obstacle is there. You only have to ask: given that it is, what can I make of it? That question turns you from someone life happens to into someone who works with what comes. The wall is real, and it's also material.

Inspired by the old idea of amor fati. Written by Ugo Charles.
