I carry only today's load, and set the rest down.

Seneca noticed how we exhaust ourselves carrying troubles that aren't even here yet, hauling tomorrow's worry and yesterday's regret through today. The present moment is usually bearable; it's the imagined weight we add that breaks us. So practice traveling light. Today asks only for today's effort, today's problems, today's small steps. The future will hand you what it hands you when it comes, and you'll have fresh strength then to meet it. There's no prize for carrying it all early. Setting down what isn't yours to hold right now isn't laziness; it's wisdom about how much one person can carry. Lighten the load to just this day. You'll be surprised how far you can walk that way.

Inspired by the old idea of present moment. Written by Ugo Charles.
