Seneca wrote a whole book on anger because he knew how much it costs. He called it a brief madness, the kind that feels powerful in the moment and leaves wreckage behind. Anger rarely fixes the thing that sparked it; it just adds harm on top. This is a tender claim, so be patient with yourself: you won't always catch it in time. But you can practice the delay. When the heat rises, you don't have to act on it instantly. Wait. Breathe. Let the first wave crest and fall. Often what felt unforgivable in the heat looks manageable once you've cooled. The pause doesn't make you weak; it keeps the madness from steering.
