I notice the riches already sitting in my ordinary day.

Seneca said it is not the poor man who has too little, but the man who craves more. Wanting can quietly run the whole show, always pointing at the next thing as if happiness lives just past it. Gratitude doesn't mean ignoring real needs. It means actually seeing what's here: a roof, a warm meal, someone who knows your name, a body that carried you through the day. These are easy to overlook because they're steady. Today, instead of reaching for the next thing, pause on something you already have and let yourself feel that it's enough, even for a moment.

Inspired by the old idea of gratitude. Written by Ugo Charles.
