Epictetus offered a bold line: don't wish for things to happen as you want, but want them to happen as they do. He doesn't mean give up effort. He means stop bracing against reality once it's arrived. So much suffering is the gap between how things are and how we insisted they should be. When you close that gap, you stop wrestling the unchangeable and free your energy for the response that's actually yours. This is amor fati in a practical key. The plan fell through. The day went sideways. Okay. Now, what's the good and honest next move from here? Today, accept one thing you can't change, then act from there.
