October 8 · Reflection
Marcus told himself to think of all he had, and how he'd long for it if he ever lost it. We adapt fast to good things—the roof, the warm cup, the people who love us—and stop seeing them. Then we ache for what we don't have. Gratitude is just the practice of looking again at what's already in front of you, before it becomes ordinary. You don't have to feel grateful for everything. Just pick one thing today that you'd genuinely miss, and let yourself actually notice it. The hands you have. The quiet of the morning. It was there all along, waiting to be seen.
