October 3 · Reflection
Marcus Aurelius wrote often about accepting his fate—not with a forced smile, but with an open hand. Things will happen today that you didn't plan and wouldn't have chosen. A delay, a hard email, a change of plans. Fighting them in your head rarely changes them; it just adds a second layer of pain on top of the first. Welcoming what is doesn't mean you like it or stop working to improve it. It means you stop wasting energy wishing reality were different than it is right now. From that calmer place, you can actually respond well.
