The Stoics had a word, sympatheia, for the way all things are connected, like limbs of one body. Marcus told himself that what hurts the hive hurts the bee. We forget this when we're tired and turned inward. But you are tied to the people around you, and small acts of care ripple further than you can see. This isn't a demand to fix everyone or carry the world. It's a reminder that you're not actually alone, even on the days it feels that way. When you help someone, you're helping a part of the same whole you belong to. Today, do one small thing for another person, not for credit, just because you share the same human cloth.

Inspired by the old idea of sympatheia. Written by Ugo Charles.
