I hold this moment gently, knowing it will change.

Marcus watched everything flow past, faces, seasons, whole empires, and saw that nothing stays. At first that can ache. But impermanence cuts both ways. The hard stretch you're in will change too. No bad day is permanent, no low mood the final word. And the good moments, knowing they'll pass, become more precious while they're here, not less. Holding things gently means you don't clutch the good so hard you crush it, and you don't believe the bad will last forever. Everything is on its way somewhere. You can love your life as a thing that moves, like a river you're standing in, rather than a thing you have to freeze and keep.

Inspired by the old idea of impermanence. Written by Ugo Charles.
