I am rich enough when I am honest, kind, and fair.

The Stoics had one bold claim at their center: the only thing that is truly good is good character. Money, praise, comfort, these can come and go, and a person can have all of them and still be miserable, or lose them all and still be at peace. That sounds extreme until you test it against your own life. The moments you are proudest of are rarely the things you owned. They are the times you told the truth when it cost you, or were gentle when you were tired. Today you do not need anything new to be a good person. The materials are already in your hands: your honesty, your patience, your fairness.

Inspired by the old idea of virtue as the only good. Written by Ugo Charles.
