The Stoics saw clearly that much of what we chase, we don't actually want; we just absorbed the wanting from everyone around us. Seneca warned how easily we pile up things, commitments, and worries that don't make us any happier, only busier and more afraid of loss. Letting something go, a possession, an obligation, a habit, isn't deprivation. It's making room. Every extra thing is something to maintain, protect, and fear losing. When you set down what you don't truly need, you carry less and move easier. The aim isn't to own nothing. It's to keep what genuinely serves your life and quietly release the rest.
