I give my full attention to the hour I'm in.

Seneca's great complaint was how we let time slip while looking elsewhere, always reaching ahead or behind, rarely here. But life is only ever lived in the present hour. The past can't be relived and the future can't be grabbed early; this hour is the only one you actually hold. Giving it your attention is a way of not wasting your life. It doesn't mean every hour must be productive. A restful hour, fully present, is well spent. A busy hour, lived half-distracted, leaks away. So put down the second screen, the half-listening, the mental rehearsal of later. Be where your feet are. This hour is the one you're alive for.

Inspired by the old idea of present moment. Written by Ugo Charles.
